The LDC Confederation has produced a short infographic for Lambeth outlining key information such as the number of dentists and practices, access rates and budget allocation.
The information is mostly taken from the Annual NHS Dental Statistics report 2023/24, available from the NHS BSA website.
Tooth extraction data is available from the GOV.UK website as part of the Office Of Health Improvement and Disparities series.
The proportion of five year old children with visible signs of decay was taken from Local Government Inform.
The data on the number of dentists providing care under a GDS contract, number of practices with a GDS contract and the budget allocation is from data supplied directly to the LDCs for the purposes of levy collection. The number of dentists is not whole time equivalents, but is the actual number of individual dentists who are active in the borough, they may be active in more than one practice but will only be noted once. The number of practices is the number of physical locations with a GDS contract, there may be locations which have more than one GDS contract but they will only be counted once. The budget allocation is the budget listed against the contracts by the NHS BSA for the purpose of levy deduction and may, as a result, differ from the actual budget allocated by the end of the year.
The allocated budget per head of population in the borough is based on the allocated budget noted above and the population estimate from the Office of National Statistics:
