The LDC Confederation has written today to Minister of State for Care Stephen Kinnock MP to register our disappointment at the 4.64% uplift announced on 08 January.
The letter makes it clear that successive underinvestment in NHS dentistry is driving practitioners into an increasingly attractive private market that the NHS is simply not keeping pace with. This is an action being forced on the profession by the simple realities of life, not necessarily a conscious career decision.
The letter goes on to explain that Local Dental Committees are working hard with local stakeholders to deliver improved services, improved integration and an NHS dental system fit for the future, but that this work is undermined if not supported by real investment.
We know how important dental care is to people, how life changing it can be and it is high time that this was recognised and invested in by the government.
